Karen Davidson – Started riding at 8yrs old, at her local riding school. Karen loved lessons and just generally being around horses and very soon was helping out, this turned into a part-time job, finally leading to a full time job with training. Between 16-18yrs old Karen worked towards her BHSAI, along the way gaining valuable experience in horsecare, riding and teaching. After achieving her BHSAI, Karen worked in a large equestrian centre, gaining experience in the running of a big yard, involvement in teaching/hosting pony club camps and rallies, hunting, teaching/supporting RDA, assisting in hosting BHS stage exams and finally the chance to travel to Wemberly as a groom for The British Horseball Team. She also had a 6mth period on a competition/dealing yard, where she gained experience in show jumping, improving/producing horses to sell and travelling to competitions. In 1995 Karen returned as Yard Manager to run the local riding school where she had first learnt to ride, during this time she achieved her NVQ Level 2 & 3 and also became a qualified NVQ Assessor. In 1997 Karen left working with horses to have her son. The opportunity then arose for Karen to use her Assessor qualification to work for a training company, delivering training, assessing and offering support to Equine Students in work placements. Karen continued to develop this role, by gaining health and safety qualifications and experience and also achieving her IV qualification. She was twice employed by 2 different large equestrian centres to launch training departments. In 2005 Karen was in the fortunate position to take time out of work and be a full-time mum, during this time Karen had her own horse which she rode recreationally. In 2007 the idea started to form about opening her own yard, a dream from childhood, and in February 2008 Ratcliffe Equestrian was launched.
| Becky Sepede – Started riding at 6yrs old, at her local riding school, where she met Karen Davidson. They both helped out on this yard at weekends and on school holidays and have been good friends ever since. As a teenager Becky worked part-time with ex-racehorses and ended up owning one of them. On the yard where Becky kept her ex-racehorse, she gained a lot of equestrian experience including showing, show jumping, schooling, cross country, endurance riding, driving and foaling. Sadly Becky’s horse passed away, but she kept her hand in with horses, riding recreationally, alongside working part-time in accounts and being a mother of 2. Becky joined Ratcliffe Equestrian in December 2010, as the Yard Assistant Manager. She is currently working towards her NVQ Level 2 and teaching qualification, in order to gain formal qualifications that reflect her extensive experience. |
|Alison Eames – Started having riding lessons at the age of 8yrs old, at her local riding school, she was then lucky enough to have been asked to exercise a horse for a friend, which allowed her to ride 7 days a week. At 17, Alison joined the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, whilst there, every weekend she rode with the Royal Horse Artillery. Alison left the army and took a break from riding to have a family. She took up riding again in 2008, coming to have lessons at Ratcliffe Equestrian. She formed a bond with a horse called Dylan, riding him regularly and in 2010 she bought him. Once she owned him, she spent much more time at the yard, eventually leading to a job. Alison started out as a groom, but more recently has got involved in teaching as well. She is currently working towards her NVQ Level 2 and teaching qualification.|
Mel Eaton - Started riding at the age of 7yrs old. Mel rode at a few different riding schools, before settling on having lessons at Ratcliffe Equestrian.
