Do you fancy a better start to the week? How about a nice relaxing hack round Beacon Hill and Broombriggs Farm? Or perhaps Bradgate Park? If this is something that appeals, then gives a call or send us a text to discuss your specific requirements
We are sad to announce that Owen was put to sleep this morning
He was an amazing pony who has introduced a lot of children to their first time on a horse, their first canter, their first jump and he has looked after each and everyone of them. A lot of people have a soft spot in their hearts for this kind, generous boy, who enjoyed his life and I believe loved us as much as we all loved him
Most definitely the end of an era
It’s here!! Our Summer of Fun booklet with details and information of what’s on at Ratcliffe Equestrian this summer!
He’s starting to look his age, he’s extremely hairy but he’s very happy and enjoying his retirement!
To round off pony posse this week we finished with a jumping day – the first jumping of 2016! The day was a great success and everyone involved really enjoyed themselves! 🙂
Despite the weather we were able to go ahead with picnic ride! 🙂 Well done to the kids who wrapped up warm, braved the elements and got on their horse!
Today Owen joined Hollie, Phoebe, Gus, Lilly, Daisy, Ziggy, Jupiter and the Donkeys at the retirement yard (aka mum’s house!) Initially the plan was to let him enjoy retirement at the yard, as he’s such a popular boy and there’s a lot of people who love to see him. Unfortunately the wet, muddy conditions are aggravating his muscle injury/illness in his hind legs. At the retirement yard it is much drier and there is stabling should he require it. Although his huge character will be missed on the yard, I have had to make the decision that is best for Owen and rest assure there will be regular photos and updates as to how he is getting on! 🙂
All week the schools have been drying out nicely and we’ve been doing lessons, yesterday I contacted all my weekend clients to say that finally we were using the schools and what did it do last night? Torrential rain!! Never mind it didn’t stop us and for the first time this year we did a whole day of lessons and we’re looking forward to another busy day in the schools tomorrow! 🙂
First lesson of 2016!!!! As the photos show still some water to drain away but so nice to finally get in the school!! (Sadly rain is forecast for Friday, but at least it’s a start!)
We may not have an indoor school
And we have mud up to our knees
But does the British weather stop us?
Never! We love riding the GeeGees!! ?
Thank you for sticking with us through the winter period!
