Due to ill health my old owners were unable to care for me, so they arranged for me to find my forever home here at Ratcliffe. It's early days, but I've settled in well. I've made friends with the other horses and I love all the grooming and attention I get. I've just started to come back into work and need to get myself fit, but I'm starting to do a few lessons now and it won't be long before I'm doing hacks and am a full working member of the team

I came to Ratciffe Equestrian on 4th April 2009, I came as a working livery. I am a very capable horse, but I can be a bit lazy…. I’m what they call an ‘all-rounder’ which means anyone can ride me whatever their age or ability and that I can do hacks, lessons and jumping. Since moving here I have made lots of new friends.

Date of Birth: 2006

I first came to Ratcliffe Equestrian in December 2010. I was on livery and then my owners moved away so I left. Sadly my owners outgrew me, but thankfully they wanted me to go to a good home, so in June 2014 I returned to Ratcliffe as a school horse and I really enjoy my life here. Although when ridden, I can sometimes be a little mischievous and I'm not slow!

Colour: Palomino
Breed: Welsh Mountain
Date of Birth: 10/04/2001
Sex: Gelding

I came to Ratcliffe Equestrian on the 22nd January 2008, before that I had been a lead rein pony. I had never been off the lead rein before but with a bit of time and patience I learned to go round all by myself! I’m good at children’s lessons, birthday parties and picnic rides. My only fault is that I DO NOT like water! I will walk round puddles or sometimes I even jump them! In recent times I have been out of work as my job has been to keep little Jimmy P company.

I came to Ratcliffe Equestrian on 1st January 2012, I came as a working livery. I came to the yard as a 4 year old, so although I had a good attitude, I had a lot to learn. Since being at Ratcliffe I have learnt what it means to be a riding school horse. I love to hack, I’m a safe, steady and reliable hack nothing on the roads bothers me. In the school I am safe and steady, although I do love to jump.

I first came to Ratcliffe as a working livery in December 2013. My owner moved yard, so I left for a while, but August 2016 I can back and am now part of the Ratcliffe family. I’m quite laid back and enjoy a bit of everything – Flatwork, Jummping and Hacking. I’m quite social and have settled back into the yard really well, making friends with all the other horses in the herd.

Unfortunately my first owners were unable to keep me, but they arranged for me to come to my forever home here at Ratcliffe and they come and visit me to make sure I'm safe and happy. I love it here, I'm learning new things all the time. I'm mostly a good boy, but being a baby I can sometimes be a bit cheeky! I'v not been in the main herd yet, but I've shared a paddock with Poppy and Bowie. Poppy and I got on fine, but Bowie is definitely my BFF.

Lottie – (Lottie May Rose)

Height: 15.3
Colour: Dark Bay
Breed: Cob
Date of Birth: 26/05/08

I am Ratcliffe Equestrian born and bred, my horsey mummy is Rosie and my human mummy is Karen. I have been here all my life, learning from both my human mummy and my horsey mummy about how to be a lead horse here at the riding school. I get to go on all sorts of adventures, long hacks, XC jumping, sponsored rides, all sorts of fun. Anything I’m asked to do I’m happy to have a go at, I think I’m confident because I have been so well loved by both my mummies. I'm not used in the school, but Karen rides me all the time and uses me for taking out hacks, so you'll see me around on the yard all the time

Mary

Height: 12.3
Colour: Dark Bay

Sex: Mare

I came from a neglected home, but the people who rescued me were friends with Amanda. Once Amanda met me she feel in love (luckily for me) and she brought me to join the Ratcliffe family. I have settled in well and am really happy in my new life of getting groomed and fussed and fed! I have started ridden work and have done a picnic ride and some lead rein rides, I just need a little more time and education before I completely ready for lessons.

I came to Ratcliffe Equestrian on 3rd January 2011, initially has a DIY livery. After a little while I went onto working livery, which I enjoyed very much as it meant my owner still rode me, but I also got variety in who rode me and what I did when I was ridden. My owner’s circumstances changed, so now I belong to Ratcliffe Equestrian, I’m very glad they decided to take me on though, because I’ve made a lot of friends here. I’m good at giving confidence to new riders and nervous riders, as I have no interest in going off at speed! I’m very content to take my time and follow the instructions given to me by my rider, nothing frightens me and I understand my job very well.

Rosie – (Seacroft Primrose)

Height: 14.2
Colour: Skewbald
Breed: Cob
Date of Birth: 2002
Sex: Mare

I came to Ratcliffe Equestrian on the 22nd January 2008, from a dealer’s yard. As soon as I arrived I settled right in and it wasn’t long before the lovely people realised I was in foal. I had my foal in May 2008 and was given plenty of time off to be a mummy to my foal in those first few months. When my foal was old enough to be weaned and she didn’t need to be with me all the time, I was gradually brought back into work. I really enjoy work, I always have my ears forward and I don’t mind whether I do one lesson or 5. People look at my size and shape and assume that I’m going to be slow and lazy, so it’s always nice when I show them I’m not! I am a very genuine mare, with a big heart and a gentle nature and I will always try and do my best for you.

Tigger – (Birtley Birthday Boy)

Colour: Palomino
Breed: Welsh Pony
Date of Birth: 02/05/99
Sex: Gelding

I came to Ratcliffe Equestrian on 8th August 2010, initially I came as a DIY livery. I was owned by a lovely family, the youngest daughter rode me all the time and did pony club rallies with me. Sadly the daughter outgrew me, but the family had my best interests at heart and therefore did not want to sell me. I had been at Ratcliffe for 3 years and had made friends here, I knew the riding school horses were well cared for and enjoyed the variety of their work, it seemed my owners thought the same and on 3rd November 2013 Ratcliffe Equestrian took me on. I made the switch to riding school pony very easily and have become a firm favourite on the yard. I’m what they call a child’s ‘all-rounder’ which means any child can ride me whatever their age or ability and that I can do hacks, lessons and jumping.

Breed: Welsh Pony
Date of Birth: 2010

Originally I came to Ratcliffe as a livery horse, but due to a change of circumstances for my owner in October 2016 I became a Ratcliffe riding school horse! I’m pleased about this because I enjoy working. I am still learning, so although I am very willing and have a really good attitude to being ridden, I sometimes get a little mixed up with the instructions my rider gives me. I have progressed so much that I have fast become an all rounder which is great for me because I love variety in my work.
